VERY SPECIAL GUEST POST!!
Vikki wrote the following for our church newsletter earlier this year. I loved it so much I told her I had to post it on the blog. She doesn’t really care for the spotlight, but reluctantly agreed. So, here is my wife’s debut blog post (and probably her last unless we can successfully convince her to write more…see below). Enjoy!
Our family includes my husband, myself, and our 12 children. Ten of which are still at home, and range from 15 years old to 15 months. Our house never has a dull moment to say the least. Can being a mom of so many be overwhelming? Yes, at times it can seem so. The ‘to do’ list seems never ending: from laundry, to groceries, to ‘damage control’ of the house. Yet sandwiched between all of those ‘to dos’ are the things that make me so thankful the Lord has blessed us with each child. Like those gut laughs that are so contagious you can’t help but laugh along. Or the bouquets of weeds picked with love and care. The front of the fridge, evidence of the great artists in our midst. Hearing the ‘Thanks, Mom, that was good’ after cooking yet another dinner. When one comes and says they want to ask Jesus into their heart. The times one is sick, and wants you to pray for them. Or when you’re not feeling well, and they pray for you. When your adult child thanks you for just being you. These things and so much more are what makes my heart swell with love for my children, but even more for the Lord that gave them to me.
I definitely want to hear more from her. If you do, leave a comment below or on Facebook. If enough of us chime in, maybe she will post regularly!
Just now read this. Yes, being a mom can be overwhelming & I’m only parenting one. I can’t fathom parenting 12. Thankful that God extends such grace to us. While the job can be daunting, the rewards are plentiful. I want my little boy to stay little for now but it does give me some anticipation of the days ahead – knowing how amazing it will be to hear my little boy say the words, “I love you mommy” & have him draw me pictures & so far. I’m sure there can be no greater joy than that of hearing your child express that they want to know Jesus. Wow!! Thank you, Vikki, for opening up your heart & sharing with us. You are an inspiration to many & I know I would love to see more from you here!
Being a parent is an amazing journey. Perhaps the MOST amazing journey. I will make sure she reads this!
